Installation of JPodium
Installing JPodium is no different than installing any other Joomla!™ extension on your site. You can read the complete instructions for installing Joomla!™ extensions on the official help page. Throughout this chapter we assume that you are familiar with these instructions and we will not duplicate them.
Installing the main component
After downloading the main component package from our website to your local PC log in to the administrator backend of your Joomla!™ installation. There goto Extensions -> Install/Uninstall. On this page you find a section labeled Upload Package File. Browse for the downloaded ZIP package file on your local PC, select it and click the Upload File & Install Button
After a few seconds Joomla!™ will tell you that the component was successfully installed.
Different installation options
When the general installaion is done you have the choice between three different ways how to setup the MySQL tables belonging to JPodium.
Install
This option deletes all JPodium tables previously existing in your Joomla!™ installation. After that they are created with the latest structure. There are no data entries made. All tables are empty.
Install with demo data
This option is similar to the previous one. All existing data is deleted, new tables are created and populated with a set of demo data. This simplifies the understanding of the general concepts of JPodium and enables you to quickly display demo data on your site.
Upgrade
The last option does not delete any entry of older JPodium installations. All tables are kept intact. The install scripts try to modify the table structures for all versions since 0.9.010, individual fields or whole tables are added and some datatypes are changed.
