The concept of JPodium
There are several sports like e.g. cycling, track and field and others where sportsmen compete in different classes. One example are age classes like U23 for athletes under 23 years of age. Typically there are racings days for e.g. cyclists with a lot of different races. The results for this different races are classified by the age class of the riders.
Based on this JPodium supports webmasters of sports clubs in managing and displaying this results.
Database management
JPodium handles a database for the athletes, one for the (age) classes linked to this athletes, one for the races they compete in and one for the results. Races can be combined in seasons, athletes in teams and results can be grouped by classes or heats. All this databases are fully accessible via the admin backend of the component.
Displaying results
The results stored can be displayed in several different ways. The common way is to show a results list grouped by the races. This list is then split into sub-lists e.g. per age class. A second way is to display a collected list of all stored results for an individual athlete. Further there are views available for athlete portraits, team pages, season standings based on points and cycling stage races.
