Announcements
April fools day
Just to avoid misunderstandings. The announcement made yesterday that JPodium becomes a commercial software was made on April 1st. If you want to read the story again you can do so here.
After long and intense discussions among all the members of the JPodium development team it was decided to transform JPodium into a commercial solution. The effort it takes to develop and maintain a component like JPodium is huge. The time spent is coming close to a full time job with no compensation at all. The help desk support alone would justify a full-time employee not to mention the long nights answering all the feature request mails.
Two levels of service in the future
There is also some good news. We are still going to provide a free version of JPodium with some minor restrictions. First of all we do not support any pictures of your own athletes anymore but we always show a picture of members of the development team. This keeps the general impression of the site in order but limits the service for the users of the free version. The second limitation is that in all your result tables the first entry will be the name of the lead developer of JPodium. If your own result table shows any result in first place this athlete will be demoted to the second place.
Acceptable limitations
We are convinced that this limitations are acceptable for the free version users but we of course also provide a program version without any of these limitations. This will be available for download after a quick and pain-free checkout via PayPal.
Download disabled
The download of the free version is disabled for the time being. As soon as the commercial setup on our servers is complete we enable the new download pages. We count on your appreciation of this necessary step and want to assure you one more time that our service will stay on the high level you are used to.
